Search Made Easy

Search Word in Balloons

How lucky are we, that today, we have access to so many things at the touch of a button. Up-to-the-minute news, recipes, health tips, nutrition and diet suggestions, fashion trends, jobs… the list is endless. It wasn’t so long ago that we had to wait for the monthly delivery of Better Homes and Gardens, Time, Forbes, Women’s Health, and for some, Cosmopolitan, the edgier fashion magazine, to learn about the latest trends.

Today, all that information is available at our fingertips – through our computers, tablets and smartphones. Many of you use Google to search for answers, but did you know there are other search sites that can refine the answers to your questions, and in some cases, get you the right answer more efficiently? Let me tell you how they work.

Say you want to know what is trending in women’s accessories? Rather than using Google to provide you a long list of new fashion trend links, shopstyle.com displays not only images of today’s top picks in styles but one click on any item will take you to the retailers’ website. Another website, lyst.com, offers over 11,000 designers and stores in one place, boasting, “we have everything you’ll want.”

One stop websites like these streamline the shopping experience and still provide a wonderful, wide range selection.

Making your next financial decision or selecting your next credit card can be just as easy when you use dedicated websites such as Bankrate.com. Searching on this site provides well-researched articles, including reviews of the best credit cards, banks and interest rates. And once again, most links take you to the originators’ website.

Adding these websites to your favorites or bookmarks list will make it easier to find what you’re looking for rather than combing through pages and page on Google.

Here are a few more of my favorite search sites:

Spafinder.com lets you search wellness retreats and spas all over the world.

Amino.com connects people to the best health care solutions based on location. Their mission is to help everyone get the most from their healthcare. They do an excellent job providing you with area practitioners and cost comparisons.

Readprint.com is an online library where you can find thousands of free books to read. It also keeps an ongoing list of the books you’ve read, and based on your reading history, offers suggestions for future reads.

Yummly.com offers recipes and images that will make your mouth water. This food platform includes great recipes along with their accompanying websites.
